Adrift? The Island of Adventure! (漂流? 冒険の島!, Hyouryū? Bouken no Shima!) is the first episode of the TV anime series Digimon Adventure. The series and episodes events take place after the events of the Digimon Adventure movie.
Summary[]
While strange weather events are occurring all over Earth, Yagami Taichi, Ishida Yamato, Takenouchi Sora, Izumi Kōshirō, Tachikawa Mimi, Kido Jō, and Takaishi Takeru attend a school summer camp, that is hit by a sudden blizzard. When the students step out of shelter, they witness an Aurora in the sky but are interrupted by what seems to be a meteor strike. They discover that small electric devices landed and floated up to each child. A portal then opens up in the sky and transfers them into an alternate dimension.
Taichi wakes up and is shocked to see a pink talking creature named Koromon. Kōshirō then appears with another creature called Motimon, who tells them that they're on File Island. As they begin exploring the island, Taichi climbs on a tree and spots with his monocular a giant red stag beetle that tries to attack him. Motimon fearfully explains that it is an aggressive Digimon called Kuwagamon. Koromon hits Kuwagamon with Acid Bubbles, but it hits Koromon. They then follow Motimon into a holographic entrance of a metal tree where they hide.
After Kuwagamon leaves they hear Sora telling them that it's safe to come out. They find that Sora also has a plant-like creature called Pyocomon with her. Another creature, Tokomon, appears followed by Takeru and Yamato, who held another creature called Tsunomon in his arms. Suddenly, Jō runs into the group while fleeing a creature called Pukamon. The creatures then introduce themselves as Digimon, or “Digital Monsters”, and the children introduce themselves in turn. When they realize they are missing Mimi, they hear her scream and run to her and her Digimon Tanemon to find them fleeing Kuwagamon.
Unable to defend themselves, the group flees again until they reach cliff. The Digimon all try to attack Kuwagamon at once, managing to make it to lose control and crash into some trees, hitting them in the process. The children pick up their Digimon to comfort them when Kuwagamon gets back up and approaches them. Their Digimon partners leap out of their arms to fight Kuwagamon and suddenly begin evolving. Koromon becomes Agumon, Pyokomon becomes Piyomon, Motimon becomes Tentomon, Tunomon becomes Gabumon, Tokomon becomes Patamon, Pukamon becomes Gomamon and Tanemon becomes Palmon. The newly evolved Digimon attack Kuwagamon and manage to take him down. The children celebrates with their Digimon, but this proves premature as Kuwagamon gets back up and breaks the cliff the group falling into the river.

- The episode title is read by Yagami Taichi.
- Koromon is the first Digimon to evolve to Child level in this episode - a recurring theme throughout the series, as he is also the first to evolve to Adult, Perfect and Ultimate.
